Our plane arrives at the island San Cristobal, which has one of the two airports in the Galapagos. There are surfers awaiting the next wave, and tour boats moored in the harbor.
The arrival involves an eco-checkpoint where we are certified and permitted for our visit to the Galagpagos National Park of Equador.
The M/Y Eric and Letty, "motorized yachts". Letty will be our home for the next week.
After check-in, welcome, and orientation on the boat, we go back to shore, then to the tortoise sanctuary in the highlands of San Cristobal.
We encounter this young sea lion at the harbor on our way back to the boat.
On return to the boat, we immediately set course to the first uninhabited island we will visit, Genovesa. As it does all year round, everwhere on the equator, the sun set at 6:00, local time.
