If you find yourself looking for a space in a parking lot paved in marble, you may be in a quarry town.

Liguria-Carrara-105
The most famous marble quarry in the world is near Carrara in northern Tuscany. Its stone is found in temples, monuments and buildings everywhere and was the material of choice for Renaissance sculptors. The mountains here show large patches of white, normally an indication of snow or ice, but here it is marble.
